A while ago Cunard announced plans for a new luxury cruise ship which would carry the name Queen Victoria, the new ship would be a so called "vista class" cruise ship. Some of Cunard's sister companies (Carnival Cruises, Costa Cruises and Holland America Line) already have a number of these vista class ships sailing in their fleet. Exterior wise the vista ships look very similar and bland. The only significant difference is that each line has their own livery and custom made funnel.

Originally the Queen Victoria would have entered service in April 2005, but before completion Cunard and sister company P&O cruises announced that the ship would be finished as the Arcadia and be repositioned within the P&O fleet. However this is not the end for the Queen Victoria, Cunard placed a new order for the Queen Victoria (she should enter service in January 2007). As announced by Cunard's president Pamela Conover: "The design of the new Queen Victoria will be more consistent with the grand ocean liner style of Queen Mary 2 and Queen Elizabeth 2". Of course that doesn't say anything concrete about the exterior design, she could still be a "standard" vista class or a perhaps a variation of that class.

Nevertheless I got inspired to draw some concepts for the new Queen Victoria. I experimented with the vista class hull and the vista class overall look of superstructure. Adding a different styling of elements that will give her a significantly different look of her own which can not be mistaken for any other vista class ship. It is important to incorporate Cunard elements without literally copying trademarks from either QM2 or QE2 this results in a unique design with Cunard family trademarks.
